Friends of Pensby High School (FOPHS)

Friends of Pensby High School or FOPHS are parents and volunteers who help raise money and organise events for the school. The group meets monthly to discuss and plan events for the school and how our young people can benefit from our help.

FOPHS has been set up to help Pensby High School raise funds and ensure that the education of our children is even better than it already is. The last few years we have been unable to run our usual events due to Covid, which has meant we haven’t been in a position to donate to school departments, as we would do so normally. In December we purchased and paid for a brand-new sound system and radio microphones. This was put to the test and was used for Pensby High School’s Got Talent Show, which was held the last day of term in December. We also judge and donate the prizes, a gift voucher for 1st,2nd and 3rd place, we ensure everyone who has been involved receives a little token of appreciation.

The FOPHS team consist of a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, 50/50 club organiser and many parents and volunteers. It is a registered charity and therefore accountable for the monies raised

All the money raised goes towards activities for the children, teaching materials and any other ways we can help. In June we arrange and pay for the ice cream van to pay a visit for year 11’s leavers afternoon. FOPHS also help the school with Open Evenings, School Drama production, Awards Evenings, Year 7 open evening and many others by providing refreshments.

Both school and FOPHS has an excellent working relationship. We will support a variety of school events such as year 7 information evenings, drama productions serving refreshments. We recently held our first disco for year 7 and 8’s since Covid. We hope to arrange a film night before the end of this academic year.

In June 2022, FOPHS funded the Year 11 Leavers BBQ which included an assault course, food, drinks and plenty of ice cream. We received positive feedback, the Year 11’s thought this was a great way to finish their academic year.

Our Summer Fair pre-pandemic was also a great success with a high attendance. The event included bouncy castles, assault courses, BBQ, horse rides, dog agility, school band and many more activities. The parents and volunteers work very hard each year to help organise this, contacting businesses for raffle prizes to baking cakes for the day. The summer fair is enjoyed by students and the community. It has also been noted by an inspector who recently visited the school. He thought it was an excellent way to make the school part of the community.

We also run a 50/50 club which is £1 per month to go into a group draw. This is available for anyone to join.

There are very few Senior Schools on the Wirral than run a PTA. If you would like any information and you would be interested at helping run events, please email fophs@psf.wirral.sch.uk

All meeting dates are in the school calendar.
